My blog is falling to the wayside, but I promise it’s for good reason. I’m living! August has been a breath of fresh air. I’ve slowed down. I’ve moved fast. I’ve lived and relaxed and lived again. It’s been a wonderful build-up to my 28th birthday (this coming Friday! eek!)

We began the celebrations last weekend, as Cat, me, and our friend Jeremy ran the Color Me Rad 5K in Pittsburgh. Honestly, I’d been dreading this race for some time. It was my first 5K since 2009, and I thought my time would be horrendous. Good thing this purely was a fun run! No time clocks. No competitive runners. Lots of breaks and walking. It was just what I needed to start birthday week off in a colorful manner.

I was amazed at Jeremy’s ability to transform into a smurf. I only wish I’d gotten so brutally attacked in blue myself. Although Jer started off running on his own, he ended up double back and running the rest of the race with Cat and me. We took lots of walk breaks, which made the day all the more enjoyable and easy-going (especially after two hours of traffic getting there). My face has never seen so much sweat + paint.

It was even caked on my eyelids, despite wearing those rad sunglasses.

This was totally worth it. There might still be paint on my bathroom floor, but again: worth the mess and time and traffic. I can only hope my 28th year will hold equally as much excitement. Fingers crossed.
